WYRZ 98.9FM, a Hendricks County nonprofit radio station, has announced they will be starting a new series of programs every Wednesday night at 7pm. The programs will feature local community affair subjects as well as arts & entertainment and will be underwritten by Duke Energy. WYRZ Executive Director Shane Ray said, “We are very excited to have Duke Energy as a sponsor of these new shows. They will fulfill a goal since we went on the air three years ago of more local interest programs. They will allow us to include more local talent on the station as well. I will continue as the host of Central Indiana Today on the first Wednesday of each month, but I won’t be behind the mic on the other shows.” Conversations About Living Young will feature Marina Keers as the host on the second Wednesday of each month. Marina is the Executive Director of Hendricks County Senior Services. The program will feature her speaking with experts in Hendricks County on subjects pertaining to life after retirement as well as the Senior Center itself. Stage and Stuff will be about the arts & entertainment scene in and around Hendricks County. The hosts will be Deanna Hindsley and Peg Glover on the third Wednesday every month. Both are heavily involved with the Hendricks County Arts Council and jumped at the opportunity to shed light on local area talent. The guests will range anywhere from sculptors to painters, and actors to writers. The fourth Wednesday of the month will bring local journalist Gus Pearcy back to the microphone for an as yet to be named new program. It is about how government and business decisions are made in the donut counties of Hendricks County and how they affect each other. All the shows will be archived at WYRZ.org for listening any time, after they air on 98.9FM. There will also be a Facebook page dedicated to the programs with pictures and videos when possible.
