Zionsville Tri Kappa awarded Zion Nature Center a grant of $1,875 as part of Tri Kappa’s annual statewide Tri Kappa Week. The donation will be utilized for exhibit development within the future Zion Nature facility, currently in design stages. Grants were also awarded to three other local organizations: Sylvia’s Child Advocacy Center, SullivanMunce Cultural Center and The Caring Center. The Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department is finalizing the design for the new Zion Nature Center facility that will be located next to Heritage Trail Park and the Big-4 Rail Trail. As part of the new facility, the Parks Department staff plans to add several professionally designed exhibits. These exhibits will be installed in the new Nature Center and will be of similar quality to the box turtle tree stump exhibit completed in 2017. Future exhibits include: seasonal trees, a new observational beehive and tree tunnel, augmented reality watershed sandbox, new aquarium displays, children’s discovery area and naturalist exploration lab. “Zionsville Tri Kappa has been a very active supporter of Zion Nature Center since its inception in 2002, and the organization has funded many different programs and materials over the years,” said Park Naturalist Mindy Murdock. Tri Kappa is a statewide philanthropic organization. Each chapter conducts special projects locally to support the areas of charity, culture and education. Last Fall, Zionsville Tri Kappa awarded funding to all eight Zionsville schools.
