Join the Zionsville American Legion Riders on Saturday September 14th for family friendly fun, food, music, raffles, silent auction and a motorcycle/vehicle charity ride (vehicles welcome) for the 13th Annual Josiah’s Ride: Cruzin’ 4 a Cure benefit at the Zionsville American Legion and help local children who have been diagnosed with Leukemia or Lymphoma. Josiah’s Ride began in 2007 as a benefit to help 8 year old Josiah Nelson and his family through Josiah’s battle with Leukemia. Today Josiah just returned to Purdue for his Sophomore year, having graduated from Zionsville Community High School in 2018. The benefit has continued each year in order to help support other local children and their families facing the challenges of these diseases and to raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Since 2007, the Riders have helped 15 additional families and with your support have donated over $147,434. This year’s event will support nineteen-year-old Jackson Williams, battling Lymphoma and his family. Jackson is a 2019 graduate of Zionsville Community High School and has delayed his start in the Purdue School of Engineering while he receives treatments this year. Funds raised will help not only Jackson’s family but Riley and St. Vincent’s Children’s hospitals as well as the Indiana Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Josiah’s Ride: Cruzin’ 4 a Cure is open to the public and kicks off with a breakfast at 9:00 am, with those intending to participate in the motorcycle/vehicle ride registering from 9:30am-10:30am. A colorful balloon release for our sponsored angels (Iron Man Mike 2011 & Miss Hadley Lehr 2016), then it’s “Engines Rumble” at 10:45am as the Zionsville American Legion Riders and other participants take off in a grand and roaring start to the “Cruz 4 a Cure.” Supporters will follow a scenic country two stop route cruising through Frankfort and Crawfordsville, Indiana before returning to the Zionsville Legion that afternoon. Public festivities continue at 3:00 pm with bounce houses, face painting and fun for the kids. Be there by 3:30 to cheer on the supporters as they return from their route or join the festivities when you can. There will be a pulled pork dinner, silent auction, and raffles as well as the Jimmy Walton Band beginning at 4:00 pm (taking place in the Legion’s non-smoking community room). Admission to the event is free and open to the public. Breakfast for those not going along on the day ride will be $5 and Dinner will be $10 (12 & under $5). Registration for motorcycle/car supporters is $25 per person the day of the event. Pre-Registration is offered until September 1st at a reduced rate of $20 for one supporter and $35 for two supporter via PayPal on the benefit website www.josiahsride.com or in person at the Legion.
